GUIDELINES

FOX VALLEY CHAPTER

ARTICLE I - NAME

 

The name of this organization is: Senior Computer Users Group

 

ARTICLE II - PURPOSE

 

A. To promote and encourage seniors (age 55 and older) in the use of computers.

B. To provide seniors with information about computer technology and give them an opportunity to develop computer skills by offering a curriculum of courses including:

 

                  l. Introduction to Computers

                  2. Word Processing

                  3. Data Base

                  4. Spreadsheets

                  5. Communications

 

C. To set up an information network to assist members with computer problems or questions.

D. To work closely with the National SeniorNet headquarters in San Francisco and to utilize their support and special services.

 

ARTICLE III - LOCATION

 

The principal location is Fox Valley Technical College, 1825 North Bluemound Drive, Appleton, Wisconsin.

 

ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS AND ADVISORY GROUP

 

A. The above group shall consist of:

l. The four elected officers consisting of the President, Vice-President Secretary and Treasurer.

2. SeniorNet Coordinator, the immediate past officers and the FVTC

SeniorNet Board.

      3. Any vacancies shall be filled by the President

 

B. Officers are elected by SeniorNet members at the November meeting.

C. Each member shall serve without compensation.

D. A majority of the group shall be necessary to pass any resolution.

E. The Group shall meet periodically to manage the affairs of the organization and to advise? and promote the goals of SeniorNet

ARTICLE V- OFFICERS

 

A. The officers of this shall be a President, Vice-President Secretary

and Treasurer.

 

B. Their term of office shall be for two years, beginning on January first. The President and Secretary will be elected for terms starting in even numbered years and the Vice-President and Treasurer for terms starting in odd-numbered years.

 

C. DUTIES - THE PRESIDENT;

 

      1. The PRESIDENT shall preside at all meetings of the membership.

      2. Appoint committees such as the Nominating Committee, or any          other Special committees

      3. Be in general charge of the organization.

 

D. DUTIES - THE VICE-PRESIDENT;

 

      1. The VICE-PRESIDENT shall perform the duties of the President in

             case of the absence, disability, or inability for any reason            of the President to perform the duties of his/her office.

      2. Be the Program Director and be responsible for the programs, and                 thanking the presenters in writing.

 

E. DUTIES -THE SECRETARY;

 

      1. The SECRETARY shall have the responsibility to take and keep on            file the minutes of all meetings.

      2. Carry on correspondence necessary to conduct the business of         this organization including providing notice of all meetings           to members and to public media when appropriate.

 

F. DUTIES - THE TREASURER;

 

l. The TREASURER shall write checks for expenditures authorized by

            the officers.

2. Account for all receipts, disbursements, and reports as requested.

 

ARTICLE VI- MEMBERSHIP

 

A. Members shall be persons 55 and older who are dues-paying members of good standing in the national SeniorNet organization

 

B. Members have a right to vote, and to be elected as Officers.

 

 

ARTICLE VII - FEES, ANNUAL DUES

 

A.  SeniorNet members shall pay individual annual dues to the National headquarters San Francisco, California

 

 

 

ARTICLE VIII - MEETINGS

 

A.  Regular meetings of the membership shall be conducted once a month.

Notice shall be given of the time and place of General membership meetings.

 

   B. A regular meeting may be canceled by a majority vote of the             membership present at any prior meeting.

 

ARTICLE IX – ELECTIONS

 

      A. A nominating committee will be appointed by the President at the                 September meeting.

      B. Election of officers will take place at the November meeting         prior to expiration of the current terms of office.

      C. Nominations from the floor will be accepted prior to the                   election at the November meeting.

 

D. Election to office requires a majority vote of members present.

 

ARTICLE X-AMENDMENTS

 

These Guidelines maybe? repealed or amended or new Guidelines may be adopted at any meeting of the Croup by two-thirds majority vote of those present at such a meeting.
